Pair Trumpet Based Candlesticks

Very fine pair of Trumpet Based Candlesticks made of Pakton (Bell Metal). They ring like a chime! The trumpet shaped base is a rare, early form . . . probably French.  It is interesting to note that this form does not resemble the silver candlesticks of that period but is unique unto itself.  The baluster stem is threaded into the base and incised lines add a decorative element to an otherwise straightforward presentation.  There is a refinement and delicacy to this pair of candlesticks that epitomize the best of the design elements of the period.  Height is 7 3/4" and base is 5" in diameter. Circa 1745.
