Pair Classical Candlesticks

Very fine pair of late Classical or early Empire Push Up Candlesticks.  There is a feeling of boldness in the design elements found on the shaft and the pronounced "acorn".  Out of necessity the candlesticks of this period had to be substantial in order to hold their own against the massiveness of the other furnishings of the period.  The pair stand 9" high on 4 1/4" diameter round bases.
