 Copper Tinderbox

Very fine and originally expensively made copper Tinder Box with original steel striker and flint.  This piece belonged to a man of stature . . . could well have been part of an officer's traveling military campaign outfit.

It is in "as new" condition except for tarnish.  (Has not been polished for some years and we have left it in "as found" condition.)  The inside corrosion more reflects its age.  Regardless, it is a wonderful find of a fancy, otherwise normally utilitarian, item most likely from the 1700's. 3-1/2 dia. x 2-7/8" high.
