 Merganser Decoy

Merganser Hen from the collection of R. H. Richardson, Claridge, Maryland, collector and author/editor of the book Chesapeake Bay Decoys: the men who made and used them. 16-1/2 inches long and 5-1/3 inches high.

Wonderful sculptural form that captures the "essence" of the bird.  A good old working decoy that is solid bodied, structurally sound with doweled head and painted eyes. Wonderful Folk Art carving that is forceful and dynamic. For the decoy collector or the collector of Folk art this is one beautiful bird!
