Miniature Portrait of a Gentleman

Portrait Miniature on ivory of a Gentleman, c. 1820. Watercolor showing a bust-length oval portrait of the man facing left wearing a black jacket, white shirt and black cravat, 2-1/4 x 2-1/2 inches. The painting is housed in an oval gilt brass pendant frame with chased bezel. The painting itself is excellent and very sensitively done by an artist of some merit. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, bowing or restoration. The rear aperture of the locket is no longer glazed, nor is the hair present . . . a very common situation.
