Windsor Green Oval Hersey Box
 Exceptional 19th Century Oval Hersey Box in the best Windsor Green Paint. None better! This is one of the finest Hersey Boxes I have ever seen . . . in fact, I'm seeing it for the second time, having sold it to a collector over twenty years ago! There is a note on the inside saying that it is from the "collection of Dr. Cornelius Weygandt (1871-1957)." Dr. Weygandt was a professor of English, noted author of The Heart of N.H. and others. He was probably one of the most influencial individuals responsible for the resurgance of the "Americana appreciation" movement. Being of Pennsylvania Dutch origin, he researched, wrote about, and collected those things belonging to life in "Colonial America". . . kind of like the Nina Fletcher Little of the 1920's. The Windsor Green Paint is deeply oxidized to an almost black color. Pine Top and Bottom, fastened with wooden pegs and the classic Hersey opposing laps are fastened with Copper tacks. L 4" W 2-1/2" H 1- 5/8".
