Hupa Hat

Fine Woven Hupa Hat worn traditionally by Hupa Women and Girls of Northwest California.  It was a standard article of feminine dress and was greatly prized as their highest form of weaving.  The hat is decorated with half-twist overlay which is visible only on the outer surface of the basket.  The condition of the hat is excellent.  No apologies here!  Circa 1900.  The hat is 7" in diameter and 3" high.
