19th Century Ship Diorama
Presented here, an exceptionally fine Folk Art Ship Diorama in a period mahogany shadowbox frame with lemon gold liner.   The sky is painted blue and shows nice contrast with wispy white clouds.  The ocean surface is also carved and is covered with whitecaps and the carved wooden sails billow as the ship sails off into the wind.  All in all an exceptional presentation by an artist of considerable talent.  On the deck is a red anchor windless and white anchor.  If you listen closely you can almost hear the creaking of the timbers as the ship cuts through the waves.  Circa Mid 1800's.
Sight size is 19-1/2" x 14" with another 3" on each side for the frame.
