Watercolor Portrait
Watercolor and pencil profile portrait on paper of a gentleman in a black jacket, signed WM. Frost and dated 1830. It is presented in its original black frame with acorn hanger and is in excellent condition. The highly detailed and colored depiction of the face and hair is particularly interesting. The background is not yellow as it shows in the photo, but rather a buff color. The gentleman's face is particularly interesting in the way that it is painted, more like what we encounter in portraits on ivory. It is signed "Frost" lower right and also on the back with the 1830 date. Size is 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" (sight) and 4-3/4" x 5-1/2" overall. Condition is excellent. $1250.00 R06G21437 Questions?
