Sandwich Star

Presented here, a very attractive Whale Oil Flint Glass Lamp from the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company, circa 1850's.  This pattern is believed to be unique to Sandwich according to Barlow and Kaiser, thus the name "Sandwich Star".  It has a remarkable brilliance, the reason for this being that sand from Western Massachusetts was exceptionally pure, resulting in brilliant colorless glass.  Size is 11" high with a pressed hexagonal base that is 4" in diameter.
