Tall Adjustable Tin Candleholder Early 19th Century Robust Tin, Adjustable Candlestick with an oval pan base and carrier handle. Made of tinned sheet iron, similar in concept to the helix/spiral candleholders with five levels of adjustment obtained by moving the nicely scrolled handle. The oval pan of the push up candlestick (7.5" x 5") and the open handle which can be used to hang are unusual variations. Taller than most candlesticks, it measures 17 inches in height. A form not commonly found, it is a superb example of the art of the tinsmith. An identical example is found in the National Gallery of Art, Index of American Design. Condition is excellent as is the patina. $1950.00 R16F130511 Questions? Ask the Ferret!
