Wrought Iron Spatula Presented here, absolutely the best Pennsylvania Dutch Fish Spatula we have had the pleasure of owning. This one has it all! It is the work of a master craftsman whose eye for form and decoration is exceeded only by his skill. Starting at the top we have a wonderful folky cock's head hanger, a motif often seen on Pennsylvania German Ironwork. The top of the handle is comprised of a heart with a heart shaped cutout surrounded by punched circles. Farther down the handle we find wonderful brass inlay of a fish and other decorative elements . . . inlaid brass circles and lines. The handle then tapers before it swells to become the tassel shaped surface of the spatula, which is also beautifully shaped. The piece measures 14 1/2" long and most likely is one of a kind, made perhaps as a wedding present or a gift for someone special. It is an exceptional example of the blacksmith's art and a worthy addition to any collection of early iron. Pennsylvania, c. 1750. $2850.00 F2J03058 Questions? Ask the Ferret!
