British Pearlware Mochaware Jug, Circa 1820 This Big, Bold and Gutsy Mocha Jug is banded in dark brown with two dark brown, gold and white idiosyncratic cabling cat's eyes on a dove gray slip field beneath a rouletted green glazed band, the handle with leafy terminals and a press molded spout. Height is 8 inches. The combination of colors is most striking as is the use of the dove gray field. They give a softness to this pitcher of impressive size. The condition is wonderful. In a perfect world this would be perfect, but that simply isn't so. What needs to be mentioned is that there is restoration to the handle. I have found that over the years when special pieces are found that have a "problem" the owner decides to have the restoration done as befits the importance of the piece. Personally I like to have this gorgeous piece looking great and I have no problem with the restoration. It's that special. $6500.00 R08G020573 Questions? Ask the Ferret!
