 Wrought Iron Hearth Roaster

This standing Hearth Roaster is an exceptionally fine example of Smithing skill.  It is a hand forged wrought iron piece which was undoubtly used an upper class home.   It dates to the early 1700's at the latest.  Note the excellence of the forming of all the pieces.  Very skilled, neat, thorough crafting.  Expensive at its time of origin.  A very rare find.  It stands 26" high and the inverted bell is 8-1/3" wide at the top with three double hooks for holding the game.  This holder adjusts vertically up and down the shaft.  The tripod feet are 8" apart.  Condition is excellent.
