Wall Box Sconce

Need a Candle Wall Sconce? This is an answer . . . an 18th Century carved Folk Art Boxed Candle Holder with a glass window.  At one point it probably had a compatible wooden block candle holder which has long ago gone missing.  Any other lighting device or candle holder will work just fine though.  The box keeps the candle from the draft while the glass allows for the light to show through.  Homes were quite drafty in Colonial times so this solved the problem of keeping the candle lit.  A bit of Yankee ingenuity here!

A very special piece of Americana Lighting.  Size is 11-1/2" high to the very top and the box is 6-1/2" x 4-1/2".
