Profile Portrait of a Handsome Man

Miniature profile bust portrait of a gentleman in a black jacket with a red striped waistcoat, circa 1810-20.  Watercolor and pencil on paper, it is presented in a period lemon gold frame and is in excellent condition.  The highly detailed and colored depiction of the face and hair is particularly interesting.  A hint of a smile plays on his lips and his eyes are particularly compelling.  

Our gentleman must have been very pleased with this portrait.  It is very well defined and many pains have been taken to give the hair a soft, realistic appearance.  The proportions are excellent and a fine painterly quality is evident throughout.
