Powder Horn

The maker of this horn did a very unusual but interesting thing.  Notice how the scraping to and through the various layers and shades of horn strata have virtually allowed him to create a painting of a stormy day at sea with a rolling, tossing sea at the bottom as well as a stormy, variously lighted sky above.  He then scratched two square riggers and a bird in this tough environment.  The initials "EH" are scratched on the horn . . . presumably the owner.  The horn is 14 inches across the curve and is in excellent condition.
