Shaker Pantry Box

Three finger Oval Shaker Pantry Box, L 4/5-8". Top and bottom are pine, box is Maple. The right facing Swallowtail Laps are fastened with copper tacks.  Boxes of this size, near the top of the stack, were used to hold small items, such as spices, sundries, jewelry, etc.
The top sits securely on the box, due to its expert construction.  The "fingers" allow the wood to "breathe" without warping or buckling when exposed to dampness. Light and delicate, the box is in very fine condition, though the lid does show evidence of wear which is to be expected and there is tiny flea bite on the lid, just under the finger.  Nothing that affects the integrity of the box but mentioned for the sake of accuracy. The surface appears to be a quite pleasing yellow, but it is not paint.  Perhaps a yellowish stain (?) Anyway, it's quite a lovely color. Those white specks in the photo are not there in person.  Tricks of the camera? Or reflection?
