Oyster White Oval Fingered Hersey Box

Oyster White Fingered Oval Box in "shabby chic" condition.  I will not mince words here, but I love the way it looks in the stack.  It's a little rough but the overall appearance is charming. The five inch length belies the only 1-3/4" in height . . . usually the longer they are, the taller. This one is a mystery to me, but a wonderful addition to the stack. The surface paint exudes an almost smoke grained appearance with an application of "something" on top of the original white. This box is most likely early 19th century, before the machine assisted production of the 1850's and later.  Missing a few pegs on the bottom so a bit loose but the top fits snugly. Top and bottom are Pine, the laps are Maple, fastened with hand made copper tacks. It's not perfect, but few things in life really are.  She's a survivor and wears her imperfections proudly.
