Miniature Marking Samplers Miniature Samplers have a charm of their very own and were usually the first effort of a young girl's hand. They were basically learning tools and not meant for parlor display. Sometimes they were made by little girls who had not yet begun to read which accounts for the uneven end breaks. In certain cases our little needle worker ventured forth and included a pictorial element to show her grasp of the idea of a sampler she would later accomplish. While not deserving of an "A" for accomplishment, they certainly deserve a "E" for effort. Presented here are a group of miniature samplers, five in all, from a private collection, acquired over a number of years. All are in very good condition with no loss to the floss or holes to the ground. R23F228017 Sampler by Mary Ann Taylor, November 12,1842 Frame H 7-3/8" W 6-1/2" Sight H 5-3/4" W 5"
