19th C. New England Pantry Box
Presented here a very fine New England Pantry box in Soldier Blue Paint with a Lipstick Red Lid. The inside is painted white and smells of powder so most likely the box was used as a dresser box rather than in the pantry for food storage.
Straight lapped construction, fastened with wooden pegs and iron tacks, this little box is very sturdily built and is in excellent condition with no areas of loss or cracks and the paint is 99.9% intact. The lid of the box fits snugly and the top of the box shows a nicely alligatored surface that only time can impart. Size is 6-3/8" diameter on the bottom and 6-5/8" diameter on the lid.
