Handmade Doll's Chair with Painted Decoration

Presented here, a wonderful little handmade doll's chair in beautifully oxidized blue paint with painted floral decoration on the crest and yellow striped detail.  The chair has what appears to be the original taped seat that was tan and blue when new but has now darkened with age.  American, circa 1840-50.

It has been much used but not abused.  It appears to have spent much of its time backed up against a wall as the back of the chair has virtually been flattened a bit and the paint worn through from contact with the wall.

The painted floral decoration is that of one of the "old" roses so much loved by all, much like a cabbage rose.  This, a much loved plaything that tells of hours of pleasure playing "dolls". If you listen carefully you can almost hear the tinkle of laughter from our little "mother" as she plays with her favorite doll.  The chair is 14-1/2" high and 8-1/2" wide at the widest part of the trapozoid shaped seat.
