Tin Tray with Still Life Painting Presented here, a Tin Tray with a wonderful, vibrant Still Life Painting. It is signed by the artist, J. H. Stover and dated 12/11/1911. The colors are incredible and the painting is a very real depiction of a jumble of fruit and pottery as opposed to the more formal presentation in a bowl or compote. There is a nice "folky" quality about this painting and the fruit looks good enough to eat! Especially the grapes which have a sort of "bloom" on them. The colors in the painting are more subdued than appear in the photo. The flash has played a little trick here. The painting is on a nice 19th Century tray with a rolled rim. Size is 22-1/4" long x 17-1/4" high. Condition is excellent with only slight craquelure to the paint. F07A28059 Questions? Ask the Ferret!
