Worked in silk and wool on burlap, this rug is simply GORGEOUS! Dating to the 4th Quarter of the 19th Century, it is a bold and original design, vibrant with color and in outstanding condition. An example of American Folk Art at its finest, the charmingly naive` quality of the design here makes it infinitely more appealing than the pre-stamped patterns so readily available during this period. The hearts worked into each corner lend a very special appeal to this rug and, I must admit to a certain bias here. This one has it all . . . design, condition and appeal!
