18th C. Corner Shelf Candle Holder Presented here, a wonderful corner candle holder. Made of wood and fastened with hand forged nails, the candle socket is formed from a sheet iron plate that covers the inside bottom of the piece which protects the wood from candle drips. Standing 16" tall and 6" wide with a fine, untouched original surface with great patination that only centuries of use can impart. While utilitarian in concept and simple in execution, there is a primitive elegance and grace about this piece which elevates it to folk art. A true survivor from the 18th century that, in my opinion, has more character now than when it was first made as the years have seasoned it and made it more beautiful. R07H06575 0012 Questions?
