This Burl Mortar is as fine as one is likely to see.  The spectacular grain is highly exceptional as are the turnings and the styling.  At the latest it is early 18th Century.

The surface is totally untouched.  It is the resultant glow from centuries of gently handling showing due respect for its unique beauty.  Its grain is the only clue to the tree type of origin.  The best we can narrow it to is Maple/Ash (?) Many burl pieces have ended up in this catagory.  There the debate starts.  Buyer's Choice!
